When to Go to Guangzhou

When to Go to Guangzhou

When to go is a major question every traveler needs to ask themselves, and certainly in a place like the Pearl River Delta, where summer temperatures and humidity can make the area feel like the inside of a clothes dryer halfway through the dry cycle and winter brings an all-pervading chill and dampness that sucks the joy from any endeavor no matter how wellplanned.

The answer, naturally, is spring and autumn, but this is complicated by a few factors. Unless you have friends in the hotel industry, don't even think about visiting Guangzhou during the annual spring trade fair, when prices of hotels skyrocket.

Don't travel anywhere in China during the Golden Week holiday, which takes place annually from October 1 through 7. So what do we recommend? September, October (excluding Golden Week), and early to mid-November.
