St. Regis Review

Considered by many to be the best hotel in Beijing, the St. Regis is a favorite of business travelers and visiting dignitaries. This is where Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino relaxed during the filming of Kill Bill. You won't be disappointed: the luxurious interiors combine classic Chinese elegance and modern furnishings. The Press Club Bar, with its wood paneling, overflowing bookcases, and grand piano, feels like a private club. The Japanese restaurant has tasty, moderately priced lunch specials. The Astor Grill is known for its steak and seafood dishes, and Danielli's serves authentic Italian food. Don't miss the waffles with fresh blueberries at the incredible breakfast buffet. The St. Regis health club is arguably the most unique in Beijing: the equipment is state-of-the-art; the Jacuzzi is supplied with natural hot spring water pumped up from deep beneath the hotel; and the glass-atrium swimming pool, with plenty of natural light, is a lovely place for a relaxing swim. An added plus is that it's just a 10-minute taxi ride to the Forbidden City. If you can afford it, this is the place to stay.
