Zhaolong Hotel (Zhàolóng fàndiàn) Review

This building was gifted to the nation in 1985 by Hong Kong shipping magnate YK Pao; however, following a renovation in 2002, it's clear that little, if any, love has been lavished on it since: a glitzy lobby gives way to some rather modestly attired rooms, while sluggish staff and an overpriced (albeit excellent) Indian restaurant offer little incentive to eat in (in a weird way a blessing, as this hotel is ideally perched on the doorstep of Sanlitun, the buzzing heart of Beijing's nightlife scene).
