Friendship Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The Friendship's name is telling: it was built in 1954 to house foreigners, mostly Soviet, who had come to help build New China. Beijing Friendship Hotel is one of the largest "garden-style" hotels in Asia. The architecture is Chinese traditional and the public spaces are classic and elegant. Rooms are large with somewhat outdated furnishings. With 14 restaurants, an Olympic-size pool, and a driving range, the hotel aims to be a one-stop destination. Its location far from the main tourist stops means that it's better situated for people who need to be close to the university area or to Zhongguancun, in the northwest of Beijing.

  • Hotel Details: 1,700 rooms, 200 suites
  • In-hotel: 14 restaurants, tennis courts, bar, pools, gym. minibar.
  • Credit Cards: AE, DC, MC, V
