Considered to be one of the city's oldest and most comfortable hotels, the Hilton lies at Beijing's northeast corner; it's a good choice for those wanting easy access to Beijing's airport, which is about a 20-minute drive away. Rooms are simply furnished, and most have two large picture windows and balconies. The hotel underwent a major renovation in 2006, giving the lobby and restaurants a posh new look. One East on Third is designed like a Louisiana mansion, with dark wood and louvered windows, and offers light American cuisine with an extensive wine list. The very cool Zeta Bar has a retro-Beijing ambience with Bauhaus chairs and Chinese-inspired bird cages hanging above the crescent-shaped bar. A resident DJ spins here every night.
