Jing Wei Lou
Jing Wei Lou Review
Always crowded with locals, this "House of Beijing Flavors" focuses on traditional local fare. Dishes include madoufu (sautéed mung-bean pulp), zhagezha (fried mung-bean paste), and a variety of mutton dishes. The two-story building has red pillars; the entrance is guarded by a statue of a man traditionally dressed and holding a birdcage—check out his Manchu queue (the hair braid men were forced to wear during the Qing Dynasty). A semi-open kitchen around the inner dining room gives the restaurant the flavor of an Old Beijing courtyard house.
