Since 1830, the Beijing Silk Shop has been supplying the city with quality silks and fabrics. This formerly musty store is being renovated; expect a supreme shopping experience in the new space by the 2008 Olympic games. Until then, focus on the silk, not the decor. To reach the shop, walk all the way down Dazhalan, then head directly onto Dazhalan West Street. Two other, much larger stores on Dazhalan major in silk. Ruifuxiang, at No. 5, is housed in a beautiful two-story building, as is Century Silk Store at No. 33.
