Jars of silkworm pupa and baskets of cocoons greet you on the second floor of Yuanlong. A tour guide will walk you through the silk quilt-making process while women in white lab coats demonstrate how to clean, soak, and stretch the silk of cocoons. It's touristy but fun if you've never seen the process. Silk quilts and duvets are for sale, as well as an on-site tailor for making qipaos. Quilts are craftily compacted into tiny rectangles—especially handy for international travelers. You should avoid this spot entirely if tour buses are lined-up in the parking lot.
