Fodor's Review

After four years of renovations this huge museum has reopened with a further four exhibition halls. Attempting to make its vast collection of artifacts accessible and fun, the museum has added more dinosaur fossils for young visitors and a colorful exhibition on the Republic period after 1911. The Ming and Qing Imperial porcelain collection remains one of the world's largest, and keep an eye out for what might be the museum’s singular treasure—a full-sized suit of ceremonial armor made from jade tiles threaded with silver, dating back to the Eastern Han Dynasty.
