Mengjiangnu Miao (Mèngjiāngnǚ miào)

Mengjiangnu Miao (Mèngjiāngnǚ miào) Review

About 8 km (5 miles) up the coast from Old Dragon Head is this shrine commemorating a local legend. As the story goes, a woman's husband died while building the Great Wall. She wept as she searched for his body, and in sympathy the wall split open before her, revealing the bones of her husband and others buried within. Overcome with grief, she threw herself into the sea. The shrine is a 10-minute taxi ride northeast of town.
