Originally from Taiwan, this contemporary teahouse–restaurant opened its first mainland branch in 2002 in Shanghai's ultraposh Xin Tian Di neighborhood, and has been going gangbusters since—they have properties in Beijing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Suzhou, and Qingdao. This one is located in the city center, just off the main pedestrian drag. The clean, cozy atmosphere and user-friendly picture menu with English captions make this the perfect place to relax. We recommend a steaming pot of red kumquat tea. Healthy soups, dim sum, and gooey Taiwanese deserts are also available.
