Beijing to Shanghai Travel Guide

Stretching from Hebei, which is very much culturally and geographically Northern China, to the more refined province of Jiangsu, Eastern China is easily accessible thanks to a well-developed tourist infrastructure. All four provinces have air and train links to both of the mainland's major transport hubs—Beijing and Shanghai. The port cities of Qinghuangdao in Hebei and Qingdao in Shandong provide another option for the adventurous traveler.

No matter what month you're traveling, it's great weather in some part of the region. In spring and summer, head to the coast at Qingdao and farther north, Beidaihe and Shanghaiguan. Save the sometimes arduous ascents up Huangshan and Taishan for autumn or the beginning of winter, when the crowds and temperatures have died down.
