Fodor's Review

The privately run association organizes educational workshops for young Cambodians in dance, music, and theater, and hosts performances featuring shadow puppets, folk dances, and traditional music every Friday and Saturday at its theater.

We had attended an underwhelming performance in Siem Reap (a dinner/dance show that catered to hundreds of tourists) and were looking for something more authentic while in Phnom Penh. It took us a while to locate the Sovanna Phum Art Association mostly because there isn't much information on their website (it's on their Facebook page instead: The performance is in a small art association venue located 10-minute

away from the Royal Palace area by Tuk-Tuk and well worth the $3 to $5 ride. The show lasts about 40 minutes and costs $10. It is a mix of shadow puppet theatre, mask theatre, and classical dance. It was perfect. The audience was about 1/2 locals. Great show for kids and adults alike. I would go back without hesitation.
