Mie Cafe Review
Mie Cafe reflects the upbeat, forward-thinking new generation of postdisaster Cambodia, represented by its visionary young owner Siv Pola, whose sheer determination to become a chef led him to running his own top-notch restaurant in Cambodia's hottest city. His somewhat out-of-the-way, open-air garden restaurant offers sweet respite from noisier parts of Siem Reap, while the proudly low-budget, basic Asian-chic decor creates a traditional atmosphere with a contemporary twist. Although he also uses imported products, Pola makes fresh, local, seasonal ingredients a priority. Try the popular spicy tuna tartare with mango, and the hot, creamy chocolate cake he learned while training at Doumande Chateaux Vieux, although the more traditional Khmer dishes are also prepared with love, creativity, and skill.
