Golden Banana Boutique Hotel and Bed & Breakfast Review

When renovation of the new building was completed in summer of 2006, it made this gem of a getaway one of the best budget accommodations in the region. Each room at the hotel is a duplex—bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and a sitting room upstairs. The rooms are grouped around a stone-and-palm-enclosed pool. Just beside the hotel, the original B&B still offers great budget accommodations, too, though with fewer amenities. Both properties emphasize that they are gay friendly, though the clientele is very mixed.

I spent a week visiting the Angkhor Wat complex last week (mid-July, 2010). I am a senior (female) travelling alone. I stayed at the golden banana and found it to be safe, sparkling clean, lush green and delightful! Salt water swimming pools, lovely staff very eager to help, and fabulous coffee! the icing on the cake was a very intelligent tuk tuk driver (Thon, 855 12384124- he can be booked independent of the Golden Banana) who allowed me to use his phone to call home as we visited temples!! (I purchased a sim card)- and who was with me throughout my temple visits. The land mine museum was on the way to one of the sites by the way ..
