Horseback Riding

You can take just a little trot or a longer excursion through the Marloth Nature Reserve on horseback with Two Feathers Horse Trails. Expect to pay between R200 for an hour and R1,200 for a full-day ride, including a packed lunch. Koloniesbos Hut, Swellendam. 082/494–8279.

From Swellendam return to the N2 and turn right toward Cape Town. The road sweeps through rich, rolling cropland that extends to the base of the Langeberg. A few kilometers after the town of Riviersonderend (pronounced riff-ear-son-der-ent), turn right onto the R406, a good gravel road that leads to the village of Greyton, in the lee of the Riviersonderend Mountains.
