A national monument, this attractive 1802 inn is thought to be the oldest in South Africa. From the street, you enter the original living room, a beautiful space with a lofty beamed ceiling and elegant antiques. The hotel is divided into two parts: the old inn with luxury rooms on its Georgian second story and a new wing with more standard rooms. All luxury rooms are furnished with antiques, including four-poster beds, draped sash windows, and bronze bathroom fittings.
The standard rooms have reproductions only. A lovely garden in a brick courtyard shaded by trellised vines is open for meals and drinks throughout the day.
