Fodor's Review

If you're on a tight budget, this farm is the place to stay. There are no frills at these basic but comfortable cottages, but the surrounding mountain scenery is just as spectacular as it is at the expensive lodge next door. You can take a guided tour or explore on your own with a booklet (R30) that describes all the rock art on the farm. Owner Haffie Strauss is a mine of information and a force to be reckoned with. During the flower season in spring, Haffie opens her

restaurant, Khoisan Kitchen, where she serves typical boerekos, including curried offal, robust stews, roosterbrood (bread cooked on the coals), oxtail, and lamb cooked on the spit. Her rich malva pudding is perfect for cool Cederberg evenings, and her ice cream made with homegrown granadilla is sublime. If you want in on Haffie's fabulous cooking, make sure to book well in advance.
