You have to move fast if you want to snap up any wines from the Kloovenburg Wine Estate. This family-run farm has many awards under its belt and is probably best known for its excellent Shiraz. In 2005 Decanter magazine awarded the 2002 vintage the only five-star "outstanding" honor among 95 other South African Shiraz wines. The extravagant, full-bodied chardonnay is also wonderful, and you may want to nab some of the 2008 vintage while it's still available. The
2006 Eight Feet cabernet sauvignon–merlot blend is a fun but very drinkable testimony to the generations of du Toits who have worked the land: it alludes to the eight grape-stomping feet of the owners' four sons. Don't miss out on Annalene du Toit's olive products. Her young son Daniel is chief taster, and the results are brilliant. It also hosts a quarterly market day when everybody from the area displays their products and you can get a real taste of local produce and home-crafted goods.
