The most interesting remnants of the glory of the boom period are the magnificent palaces built by successful farmers. Most are private homes, but you can visit the sandstone Le Roux's Town House, built in 1909 and furnished in period style, to see just how good they had it in those heady days. It forms part of the C.P. Nel Museum.
