Kurland Review

On the road out of Plett toward Tsitsikamma, this magnificent 1,500-acre estate is centered on a lovely historic Cape Dutch homestead. Spacious guest suites are in separate buildings, and the huge bathrooms, antique furniture, book-filled shelves, fireplaces, and private balconies give you the feeling you're staying in your own country home. A view of horse-filled paddocks makes it seem even more opulent. Ten rooms have staircases leading to charming children's attic rooms. The food in the restaurant ($$$$) is exactly what you might expect in such a refined atmosphere: well cooked, beautifully presented, and made from whatever's fresh. Guests have the use of a complimentary all-terrain quad bike and mountain bikes for exploring the estate. There are free pony rides for kids, plus children's programs during Easter and summer school holidays.
