Santos Express Train Lodge Review

And now for something completely different. In an old train parked on the beach, this lodging uses real train compartments for accommodations. Though the place is not exactly luxurious, the location is hard to beat. Book way ahead to secure the Caboose, which has its own bathroom and a private deck, or if you're on a really tight budget, there's a 16-bed dorm with a self-catering kitchen. The restaurant (¢-$) is almost always busy and serves the usual fish, steak, and burgers. You'll also find a good range of traditional South African dishes, such as bobotie (a dish of spicy ground meat with savory custard topping) and waterblommetjiebredie (water-flower stew)—don't knock it till you've tried it.
