This is Port Elizabeth's most well-established fine-dining option, a stalwart in the expanding beachfront dining scene. It's located in the Beach Hotel opposite the pier. Glass doors open onto a terrace, with sea views, or you can sit inside at tables placed around the bar, which is located in the center of the restaurant. Cuisine is contemporary with local flavors and the menu is expansive; the seafood options are hard to beat, but there's also a large selection of steaks and game meats. For dessert try a Spice Route ice-cream plate, with four different flavors of homemade ice cream: ginger, cinnamon, fennel, and honey. The wine list is excellent, and the service is crisp and efficient. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the size of the portions. A lighter lunch menu features warm salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pastas, as well as some seafood and steak dishes.
