THE GREAT AMERICAN VACATION
Eager to explore the U.S.? Our trip finder will help you find the perfect destination.More
This public park, covering more than 54,000 acres, is owned by the Msini tribe with private concessions to the various lodges in the reserve. Manyeleti means "place of the stars" in Shangaan. You'll certainly see dazzlingly bright stars and also lots of game because there are no fences between this and its neighboring reserves. It's something of a Cinderella reserve compared with its more famous
neighbors. Away from the major tourist areas, it's amazingly underused; you'll probably see very few vehicles while you're here. The park's grassy plains and mixed woodland attract good-size herds of general game and their attendant predators. You have a strong chance of seeing the Big Five, but the Manyeleti lodges focus more on providing an overall bush experience than simply rushing after big game. You'll learn about trees, birds, and bushveld ecosystems as you go on guided bush walks.
If you're looking for true wilderness, remoteness, and stark, almost surreal landscapes and you're not averse to forgoing the ultimate in luxury...
