You can't actually see Nelson Mandela's old house from this popular restaurant, which means that you're less likely to run into a tour bus. Nambitha has evolved from a township restaurant catering only to African tastes into a more versatile establishment. It plays an eclectic selection of music—soul, jazz, R&B, and more traditional African—and is constantly buzzing with people. Meals include mutton curry served with pap, dumplings, rice, or samp, spinach and pumpkin;
mogodu (tripe); marinated traditional chicken, lamb shank, and oxtail. Meals are relatively inexpensive, but food is less Nambitha's strength than its busy vibe. Many locals pop in just to chat and mingle.
