The simple interior allows views over the Atlantic to take precedence here. The sushi, which Wakame does very well, is sufficient reason to visit. Other dishes, like the lightly seared tuna served with a tuna-confit emulsion and marinated snow peas, demonstrates the kitchen's culinary agility. Start with the crispy, fried, salted calamari with hoisin sauce, coriander, and lime. Then move on to the sesame-crusted tuna with ponzu-flavored greens (ponzu is a Japanese citrus-vinegar sauce) with deed-fried sweet potato, or Thai red-curry chicken with lime-fried rice. The dark-chocolate-and-cashew tart is rich, but not overly sweet. Smoking is permitted on the narrow balcony, which means that if the wind changes direction, nearby diners in the nonsmoking section may suffer the smell. Wafu, on the upper level, is excellent for drinks and serves a good dim sum menu.
