On Restaurant Mile along the city fringe, this informal spot has few competitors in the field of bargain-price, ocean-fresh, well-cooked seafood. You can sit facing the street or find a table in the courtyard, complete with a fountain, at the back. Calamari—stewed, grilled, pickled, or in a salad—features prominently among the starters, which include a mezes selection. The catch of the day is listed on the many blackboards lining the mustard-yellow walls, but delicately flavored hake-and-chips is the budget draw card. Standard entrées range from excellent Cajun-style grilled calamari to a huge seafood platter for two. Prices for the seafood platters and crayfish run higher than for other dishes. Tartar, chili, and garlic sauces come on the side, and Greek salads are authentic. Desserts are average.
