Blue leather armchairs and crisp white napery confirm the Twelve Apostles Hotel's nautical bent and Azure's smart interior. The menu—with its focus on seafood, game, and the indigenous fynbos plants—works well with views of the Atlantic Ocean as far as the eye can see and Table Mountain. Presented in a martini glass on a bed of greens, the crayfish-and-prawn cocktail is one of the restaurant's signature dishes. The chicken noodle soup, another signature dish, with perogan (mince pie) is delicious. The giant-tiger-prawn tempura, served with chili-tomato salsa and pickled cucumber, is an extravagant feast. Slow-roasted duck comes with roasted potatoes and panfried vegetables, glazed baby apples, and a caramelized citrus reduction. The Cape Malay Curry with chicken and prawns is a good example of regional cuisine that's been given new life. Oversized napkins provide unexpected luxury for messy eaters. Ask for a window table.
