Simon's Town Backpackers Review

Don't expect designer linen or glam furnishings at this backpackers' lodge. It's simple, cheap, cheerful, and spotlessly clean, and offers fantastic views from the upstairs balcony. Simon's Town is a great place to station yourself. It's under an hour by car from Cape Town, on the railway line, and within driving proximity of Boulders Beach and the penguin colony. You can also choose from plenty of nearby restaurants, serving everything from sushi to Nepalese fare. The historic building has been many things in its lifetime, including a brothel. A TV is available in the communal lounge.
