The old winery on this historic estate has had a major renovation replacing one wall with windows that take in extravagant mountain and vineyard views. At lunchtime you can sit on the oak-shaded terrace overlooking manicured lawns and whitewashed homestead. A global menu with Cape influences includes asparagus-and-field-mushroom risotto served with slow-roasted Rosa tomatoes, goat feta, and watercress before being anointed with white-truffle oil. Beef fillet is served with an oxtail cake, porcini flan, pomme Maxim (a fried circle of scalloped potatoes), and foie gras butter finished with a beef jus. The tasting menu is recommended for serious foodies, and the Sunday lunch buffet with jazz quartet is the best the city has to offer.
