This tiny Kalk Bay landmark, furnished with mismatched tables and a counter along the window, has long been a well-kept secret among locals and regular visitors. The quality of the mostly Mediterranean fare is consistently high, and the servers are consistently sassy. A delectable dish of eggplant rolls—filled with butternut squash, ricotta, and sweet potato and sauced with piquant tomato—is always popular. Penne pasta topped with fresh tuna comes in two sizes, as do other specialties chalked up daily. The chef also serves more than 12,000 delicious omelets each year, accompanied by excellent croissants and crusty loaves from the café's bakery up the road.
