Mowani Mountain Camp

  • Luxurious Retreat

  • The sundowner rock
  • Convenient to local attractions
  • Excellent campsites with private bathrooms should you prefer a collapsible tent to a permanent camp

  • The "donkey" boilers for hot water, while authentically rustic and charming, aren't always that reliable
  • Activities are extra if you're not on fully inclusive plan

Fodor's Review

A scenic, centrally located locale from which to explore Damaraland's desolate attractions, Mowani Mountain Camp is perched on a pile of giant round boulders in sight of the impressive Brandberg Mountain. Each of the 12 rooms and the luxury suites are set back, almost camouflaged in the boulders with views either of the hilltop vista or the valley where guides will take you to look for desert elephants. Conveniently located close to the area's major attractions—the Brandberg

Mountains, the White Lady rock art, Twelfontein's rock-art gallery, the Organ Pipes, the Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest—Mowani's mix of well-appointed rooms and stunning natural setting (toast the day at the sundowner rock or take a plunge between the rocks in the pool) make for a memorable stay.
