Language. English is the official language, but it's usually spoken as a second language. Afrikaans is spoken by many residents of various races, and there is a large population of German-speaking people. The most widely spoken indigenous languages are Kwanyama (a dialect of Owambo), Herero, and a number of Nama (San) dialects.
Time. Namibia, like Botswana, is on CAST (Central African standard time), which is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. That makes it seven hours ahead of North American eastern standard time (six hours ahead during eastern daylight saving time).
