Air Travel

The key international air hub in the region is Agadir, although visitors based in Essaouira may fly in to Marrakesh or Essaouira itself. Agadir's Al Massira Airport is 35 km (21 miles) east of town. Grands taxis (large shared taxis for up to six passengers) to downtown Agadir are a fixed price of 200 DH, but many drivers expect you to haggle. There is also a shuttle bus (4 DH) every 30 minutes from the airport to nearby Inezgane (13 km [8 miles] southeast of Agadir), where several bus services and grands taxis provide connections to other southern destinations as well as to the main bus station in Agadir. Otherwise, your hotel will usually be happy to arrange your airport transfer.

Essaouira's Mogador Airport has several flights a week direct from the United Kingdom and some European cities. The airport is 16 km (10 miles) south of the town. There are no regular buses or shuttles from the airport, but grands taxis to Essaouira cost 150 DH, and your hotel can usually arrange transfers.
