Blanco Riad

25, rue Zawiya, Tetouan, Tanger-Tétouan, Morocco

Run by Spanish owners since 2009, this beautiful, crisp, upscale riad once served as the Spanish consulate. During the Spanish protectorate, the palace housed the Pacha, however the inner courtyard dates to the 17th century. More recent renovations include shiny, creamy tadelac walls and a freshening up of the original carved cedar doors. The artwork decorating the walls is mostly Spanish, and the cuisine served in the restaurant is a modern fusion. The airy patio has cheerful Gaudi-style floor tiles, a light-filled reading area, and (off it) an in-house hammam. This is the kind of place you could stay all day.
