Fodor's Review

Off the beaten track, a digression from Midelt takes you to the silver and lead mines at the Gorges d'Aouli, a 24-km (14-mile) round-trip negotiable by a standard car. Formed by the Oued Moulouya—Morocco's longest river, flowing all the way to the Mediterranean—the gorges are sheer rock walls cut through the steppe.
