Food souk
Food souk Review
On the southern side of the medina square are the food souks. A tour through this gastronomic oasis stuffed with all manner of products heaped in elaborately arranged cones and pyramids—prunes, plums, olives, spices, nuts, dates, meats, fish, and pastries in every conceivable shape, color, aroma, and taste—is a veritable feast for the senses. The variety of olives on display and the painstaking care with which each pyramid of produce has been set out daily is nearly as geometrically enthralling as the decorative designs on the Bab Mansour. Look for the bustling fish stalls for seafood of all sorts straight from the Atlantic an hour's drive away. The kissaria (covered market) is a good place to stock up on Moroccan spices and aromatic herbs.
