Strategically placed to overlook Fez, the Mérinides is deservedly popular, so reserve well in advance. The views of Fez el Bali from the pool—nicely raised above the fray—are the best in town. The rooms are decorated in light tones with glass and wood trim. The restaurant is subdued compared to some of the exotic medina choices, but the cuisine, both international and Moroccan, is carefully prepared and elegantly served. The only drawback is coming and going by taxi or private car, as it's a few minutes' drive above the medina.
