Attarin Medersa

  • Address: Boutouil Kairaouine, Fez

Fodor's Review:

The Attarin Medersa (Koranic school) was named for local spice merchants known as attar. Founded by Sultan Abou Saïd in the 14th century as a students' dormitory attached to the Kairaouine Mosque next door, its graceful proportions, elegant, geometric carved-cedar ornamentation, and its excellent state of preservation make it arguably the loveliest medersa in Fez.
