Fez and Meknes Hotels

Hotels in Fez range from the luxurious and the comprehensively comfortable, such as the Sofitel Palais Jamaï, Le Méridien's Mérinides, and the Jnan Palace, to more-personal, atmospheric riads (renovated guesthouses and villas) that offer everything from kitschy decor to authentic traditional living. Hotels nearest Fez el-Bali are best, as the medina is probably what you came to see. In Meknès, there is a more limited choice, with a few gems competing at the top end. The Palais Didi and Ryad Bahia are loveingly restored houses. The Hôtel Transatlantique is the best combination of old-world digs overlooking the Imperial City's walls. For a modern alternative, the Hôtel Rif is in the Ville Nouvelle.
