In a valley on the edge of the Dana Nature Reserve, the stone-built eco-lodge blends with the surrounding rock-strewn hills. Given the stark landscape and bumpy approach, you might be sceptical but hesitations will be erased as you're welcomed by the staff of local Bedouins, for whom hospitality is second nature. Solar power runs the generator for electricity in the kitchen and bathrooms but otherwise the lodge is lit throughout with locally made candles in well-placed,
mirrored sconces. Rooms and common areas—including a library with a fireplace and a hammock-strung nook—are spare but have thoughtful and elegant touches like luxe bedding. Sign up for a hike during the day, visit with local Bedouins, and at night lie out on the rooftop terrace for some serious star gazing. The whole property has an ethereal romanticism about it. Breakfast is included.
