The Upper Galilee and the Golan's crisp, appetite-whetting air is an exquisite backdrop for some excellent restaurants. Fresh grilled Dan River trout, Middle Eastern fare prepared by Druze villagers, or home-style Jewish cooking in the heart of the holy city of Tzfat are all regional fare. Excellent local wines enhance any meal: try the Mt. Hermon red, Gamla cabernet sauvignon, and Yarden cabernet blanc and merlot. Note that in a few places (such as Tzfat) it can be hard to find a restaurant open on Shabbat (sundown Friday until sundown Saturday).
