Rokach House

Fodor's Review:

This mansion was built by the founder of Neveh Tzedek, Shimon Rokach and his wife Hannah to be their home. Like several other homes in the quarter it fell into disrepair, and its restoration is the "baby" of the Rokachs' daughter, the artist Leah Majaro-Mintz. It now houses Majaro-Mintz's art and an exhibit of items from the quarter's early days. Guided tours in English are available by calling ahead. A dramatization (in Hebrew) of Neveh Tzedek's history, preceded by tastings of the period's cuisine, is offered most weekend evenings at 9:30.

  • Cost: NIS 10
  • Open: Sun.-Thurs. 10-4, Fri. and Sat. 10-2.
