Cana

Many scholars identify the large, modern Arab village of Kfar Kanna as the site of the ancient Jewish village of Cana, mentioned in the New Testament. Here Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine at a wedding feast, thereby emerging from his "hidden years" to begin a three-year ministry in the Galilee.

From Nazareth the road winds down through typical Galilean countryside. The profusion of olive groves, pomegranates, grapevines, fig trees, and even the occasional date palm (unusual at this altitude) is a reminder of how much local scenery is described in the Bible. Even the clutter of modern buildings, power lines, and industrial debris cannot entirely ruin the impression.
