Part of the official Youth Hostel Association, this place is an example of how good budget accommodations can get. The large, airy, stone-and-aluminum lobby is a gathering place that opens out to flower-filled patios, with a view of Hebrew University's abundantly green Givat Ram campus. Guest rooms are spacious enough (they sleep from two to five, two in fold-up bunks), with private showers and toilets; furnishings are functional. The Israel Museum is a short walk away, and there is a bus route to the downtown and the Central Bus Station. Meals are substantial and good. Pros: big on aesthetics; great place to meet travelers. Cons: no-frills rooms; closest bus line a bit infrequent.
