Elegantly intimate, this boutique hotel is on the seam between East and West Jerusalem. The red marble floor, gilded columns, wooden lattices, wrought-iron work, and plush burgundy upholstery of the lobby suggest other eras, and somehow manage to avoid gaudiness. The suites were freshly renovated in 2008; in-room whirlpool tubs are standard in the marble bathrooms. Pros: free Internet access; personable, English-speaking manager; reasonable à la carte meals and snacks. Cons: not inviting neighborhood to stroll; dead at night.
