Built in the early 1930s as part of the St. Andrew's (Presbyterian) Church complex, the guesthouse is as much a retreat as a place to stay overnight—"feeling like you're home," is the way they like to put it. The comfortable library, the garden, and the lounge with stuffed chairs and stone arches framing Old City views define the character of the place. Some of the guest rooms—tiled floors, gold-and-orange bedcovers and curtains—have tubs, others showers only. Bigger rooms have less of a view; some rooms have balconies. Pros: serene; close to German Colony; interesting "ethnic" gift shop. Cons: no meals other than breakfast; only one room for guests who can't do steps.
