Fodor's Review

The parquet floors, white baby grand piano, diaphanous drapes, and flower arrangements suggest class, and rightly so. Canela helped pioneer kosher fine dining in Jerusalem, and its French cuisine is still among the city's finest. Great starters include the sea bream ceviche, smoked goose and asparagus, and a chicken liver with almonds and berries that melts on your tongue. The deliberately restrained list of entrées includes a fine salmon with gnocchi, but meat rules. Try chicken breast stuffed with smoked goose breast or the particularly good fillet with wild rice. There is also a good children's menu. Kosher rules do not allow for dairy desserts, but the chocolate ganache will leave you wondering where they hid the milk.
