Timing and Precautions

Allow at least two hours to explore the Jewish Quarter, not counting shopping and eating. If you're pressed for time, absorb the scene over the rim of a glass or mug, and take time to visit the Herodian Quarter. Avoid visiting on Saturday, when everything is closed, and some religious locals may resent you taking pictures on their Sabbath. Sites with entrance fees close by midday Friday.
