Air Travel: Ben Gurion International Airport, the country's main gateway, is 105 km (65 mi) south of Haifa, about a 90-minute drive. A convenient sherut (shared taxi) to Haifa costs NIS 30. You can also catch Bus 5 and transfer to Bus 947. The price for the journey is NIS 36.

Bus Travel: Egged serves the coastal area from Jerusalem Central Bus Station to Tel Aviv Central Station. There's service to Netanya, Hadera, Zichron Ya'akov, and Haifa from both cities. From Jerusalem, a direct bus to Haifa takes one hour 40 minutes. Getting to Caesarea requires a change at Hadera. To get to Akko, change at Haifa. Crowds are heavy at bus stations on Thursday night and Sunday morning. Buses usually do not operate from Friday evening to Saturday evening; in Haifa, some buses run on Saturday.

Car Travel: Driving can be the most comfortable and convenient way to tour this region.

You can take Route 2 (the coastal road) or Route 4 (parallel to Route 2, but slightly inland) north along the coast from Tel Aviv to Haifa, continuing on Route 4 up to the Lebanese border. From Jerusalem follow Route 1 to Tel Aviv; connect via the Ayalon Highway to Herzliya and Route 2.

Taxi Travel: In towns, taxis can be hailed on the street day or night. Ask the driver to turn on the meter moneh).

Train Travel: The northern coast is one part of Israel where train travel is fairly practical. As always, remember that service is interrupted Friday evening to Saturday evening. Israel Railways trains from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv travel at least twice a day to Netanya, Benyamina, Caesarea, Haifa, Atlit, Akko, and Nahariya. You might have to change trains in Tel Aviv when coming from Jerusalem.

The train line from Ben Gurion Airport travels to Tel Aviv, Benyamina, Atlit, Haifa, Akko, and Nahariya. The trip from Tel Aviv to Haifa takes about one hour. Sunday to Thursday, trains depart every 20 minutes from 6:20 am until 9:30 pm; on Friday they run from 6 am until 3:20 pm. On Saturday there are four departures after 7:30 pm. Train travel from Jerusalem to Haifa is feasible only if you have plenty of time, as you have to change in Tel Aviv.
